Known as Konpira-san, located in mountainside of Mt. Kotohira-yama
The headquarter of all Konpira-san shrine in Japan. The shine is located in mountainside of Mt. Kotohira-yama. There are 785 steps of the stairs to get to the main shrine. A view from the terrace in front of the main shrine is very beautiful, even Seto-Ohashi bridge can be seen.
History
As the shrine has the history of mixed with Buddhism in medieval ages for long time, a document of Buddhism tells that the shrine was established at least before 1165 A.D. The enshrined deity Omono-nushi is the calm spirit of Okuni-Nishi-no-Okami.
